Families at the British Music Experience
The British Music Experience is a great place for visitors of all ages with plenty of interactive things for the whole family to get involved with.
Here are just some of the things you can do...
Family Activity Sheets
Ask for a free family activity sheet at the ticket desk. Featuring our British Music Experience characters and full of fun family puzzles and questions, it will help guide you through the exhibition. Complete all the puzzles and hand it in at the Merch Store and we'll give you a visitor certificate.
Dance the Decades
Perfect for all ages, try our 'Dance The Decades' experience, where you can learn the steps to different dances such as the Macarena, The Birdy Dance and disco.
Play Real Musical Instruments
Our Gibson Interactive Studio features lots of professional musical instruments to pick up and play, including drum kits, keyboards and Gibson electric and acoustic guitars. Don't worry if you've never played before - our visitor experience crew are a friendly and knowledgeable bunch and will show you what to do.
If singing is your thing, our vocal booth is just the thing for you. Put on the headphones, choose your song and sing your heart out.
Family Friendly Events
Throughout the year - especially school holidays - we've got lots of extra activities for young rock stars. Keep an eye on our website for all the latest events information.
Prams and Pushchairs
We have secure lockers for personal belongings. Fold-up prams and pushchairs are welcoem in the main exhibition space but please be aware that we do not recommend them during peak times.
Children's University: Passport to Learning
We are proud to announce that The British Music Experience is part of the Passport to Learning scheme as associated with The Children’s University.
The ‘Passport to Learning’ has been created for children aged 7 to 14 years (and 5 and 6 year olds with accompanied with grown-ups) to collect 'stamps' and hours of accredited learning. This contributes to the award of a certificate, encouraging them to access Children's University™ provision and a wide range of other worthwhile out-of-school-hours learning opportunities. The ‘Passport to Learning’ is an essential component / tool for participating schools when logging a child’s additional hours in the wider community environment.
